Brazil and Chile's wildlife at risk: Avian flu takes toll

Marine mammals like sea lions and otters seem to be particularly hard hit by the disease.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) continues to devastate South America’s marine birds and mammals. The World Organization for Animal Health recently reported a series of HPAI cases in Brazil and Chile’s wild animals going as far back as this past April.
